AgroLawn Inc. was founded in 1995 by Steven and Pat Bailey after Steve received his B.S. degree in Agronomy/Turf Science from Brigham Young University. Together, their commitment to doing things right has allowed the company to expand and become the area’s top rated lawn care company. About Our Pricing
Lawn care pricing can vary significantly. Prices reflect the quality of materials, experience of the employees, and the scope of the work being performed. An initial low price may sound appealing, but not be the best long term value. Here are some things to take into consideration when selecting a lawn care provider:
Materials Used
Instead of using contractor blend grass seed, AgroLawn uses University approved Tall Fescue varieties. Rather than generic crabgrass control products, AgroLawn uses granular Dimension®. Dimension does a terrific job holding crabgrass at bay during our hot summers. We also use Momentum® premium weed control, which controls weeds in our area that are missed by some of the older weed control products. Our granular slow release fertilizers also contain Iron (Fe) and a micro-nutrient packet for a well balanced yearly feeding schedule.
Type of Fertilizer
Nitrogen (N) is a major ingredient in most fertilizers. Quick release fertilizers cost much less than slow release products but don’t provide an efficient use of Nitrogen. Quick release fertilizers encourage a “feast-to-famine” cycle characterized by a short-lived surge in topgrowth followed by a sudden drop in available nutrients. This can weaken the overall vitality of grass plants.
AgroLawn uses slow release granular Nitrogen sources that provide more uniform plant growth over a longer period of time. The nutrients applied will not drift, leach through soil, or wash away. Controlling the release of nutrients promotes deeper denser root growth and much healthier grass plants.
Fertility Level
AgroLawn programs deliver approximately 2.9 pounds of Nitrogen per 1000 square feet of lawn per year. Both Virginia Tech and University of Maryland have determined that this is the best nutrient levels for lawns in our region.
